Mass Multiplied By Velocity Equals Total Degradation

When I was younger and still going to Eucon, the lower grade students had to wait out front for their parents to come pick them up. I don’t remember much of kindergarten, but I’m guessing that if I remembered this vividly now, it must have been extremely embarrassing back then.
As the little kids were waiting for their rides to arrive, everyone sat on the mini benches that we were instructed to sit on. Being me, I never regarded the rules. I pretty much did what I wanted, when I wanted to. But I was really good at determining when the right times were to break the rules and when it was not acceptable to. In this after school case, I found it okay to break the rules and not sit on the benches.
I was a naughty little girl back then. I wreaked havoc on everyone that went my way; I was quite like a tornado, not technically huge compared to other storms, but can still mess things up in a heartbeat. Also, I caused trouble like a tornado; I come from out of no where, much like how a tornado forms in the sky. (So expect the unexpected when you are around the younger me).
Anyway, I was bored that day so I decided to start spinning around in circles with my rolling schoolbag over my shoulders (childish, I know, but hey I was in kindergarten!). As I was spinning, I realized that the momentum my bag created from me spinning made me go faster and I had way more fun. Unfortunately when I stopped, my bag had a mind of its own and turned on me. I fell straight down to the ground because of my sudden stop. It enabled my schoolbag to spin one more circle and get me off balance.
The tires of my bag hit the concrete before I did and made a loud bang. Everyone sitting on the benches saw me because I was the only one standing up, plus the noise the tires and the ground made got their attention so all eyes were on me. I cannot express the humiliation and embarrassment I experienced at that moment. I guess that was the beginning of my experience with the properties of physics. Mass multiplied by velocity equals total degradation.

Harry Potter: My Literary Hero

Harry Potter is my literary hero. Not only did he survive death, he survived out of love. That sends a positive message through the fantasy world to reality, in my opinion. Living in a home where all Harry receives from his foster family is hate and spite, he still manages to be brave, even through the harshest of words.
Through the past seven years of my life, Harry Potter has imbued me with the fantasy world that sprung my imagination: what if Hogwarts really is real, what if wizards, witches, muggles and dark lords really do exist, and what if there really was a magical game called Quittidge. These questions and more are partly what took up my childhood.
Although Harry’s quest is to defeat the Dark Lord Voldemort, he still has time to have fun and joke around. He depends greatly on the help of his friends and succeeds in all the difficult tasks that come his way. Harry loses his parents when he is only a baby, so he has never experienced the feeling of having a real family. But he does find that out from the love and friendship he shares with Hermione and Ron.

Don't open that door!

When you open the front door in the morning, what would you see and what do you want to change?

Waking up in the morning is so dreadful to me. I can’t stand getting out of my warm, messy bed onto the cold, unforgiving tiled floor. Every morning I get a call from my dad. He and I live in separate houses, and I’m currently housing a couple of my cousins who are supposed to keep an eye out for me while my mom is away on a business trip.
My dad always calls at exactly 6:00 AM. There hasn’t been one time where he has ever called me later than that (except for that one time where he thought that I was being dropped off by someone else). I hear the phone as it rings, and I hate the sound it makes; “Crrrrrring! Crrrrrring! Crrrrrring!” Okay, okay! I’ll answer it! I pick up the phone and I answer with the clearest voice I can possibly speak with at six in the morning (though, I still end up sounding like a drunken man at an English pub at three in the morning).
Even though my dad calls, I pretend to be awake telling him that I’m up and ready to get dressed, when in reality, I’m slowly going back to sleep for another twenty minutes or so. My body automatically wakes up at 6:40 on weekday mornings because I know that if I don’t have at least twenty minutes of getting-ready time, I’ll look like complete rubbish for school.
When I open my bedroom door, I see down the hallway; at the end of the hallway, I see a mirror. Unfortunately, this mirror only shows how horrible I look in the morning. I enjoy the mirror being there because I can take a gander at myself once in a while, but in the morning, I just wish it were moved. I don’t need to be reminded of how completely disgusting I look; my messed up hair that I put in a bun the night before; my smeared makeup that I forgot to wipe off; my pyjama top that has found its way off my shoulder.

Utopia: My Idea of Paradise

Paradise; a wonderful thing if you're in your own. My idea of a perfect paradise is somewhere I'm totally submerged in silence. When I say silence, I mean the total absence of other people. When I'm alone I feel free, I feel that I'm not only happy, but content with myself and my surroundings. The air is just above room temperature and it's just perfect enough to wear a yellow tank top with blue denim shorts and a pair of flip-flops that hang off my toes when I cross my legs. I'll be sitting in a nice cushioned chair complimented by a desk that is settled just above my belly. Of course, what you may think if I'm sitting on a char at a table that I must be reading a book; indeed, I will, in fact, be reading a book, but the book isn't just any book, it's Facebook.
Oh Facebook, the wonders of Facebook; the magnificence of Facebook; the lure of Facebook; the provocation of Facebook. The wonders of Facebook can keep you in its grasp for as long as you can bare. When I'm on Facebook, I'm contacting other people while being alone; while not looking into their eyes; while being immersed in silence. On the other hand, if things get too quiet, there is a chance that I may turn on the music player on my computer. The ideal music for me is a mix: the Beatles, the Who, Queen, the All-American Rejects, and maybe some Fallout Boy and Green Day (mainly anything that's bearable to the ears). The volume of my music will depend on my mood. If I'm in a blissful, exultant mood I'll set the volume up high where I can be able to get up and dance in front of the mirror when I feel the urge to. Although, if I'm in a mellow, withdrawn mood, I'll set the volume low so I can chill to the sounds of the Beatles.

Sleep Deprivation and Students.

Sleep deprivation and students are linked together by various reasons. One reason is the technology that is available to them; texting, IM-ing; the everyday use of the computer. All these reasons are what many students are being held up late for. Because they are students, they tend to stay up late doing the homework that should have been done beforehand.
Sleep deprivation in young adults may increase their risk for depression. Studies show that students who stay up late at a constant rate, have a higher risk for mental illness than those who obtain the full eight hours of sleep they need for their bodies and minds to function properly.
Lack of sleep may also lead to a weight issue. When teenagers do not get the normal amount of sleep they need, their bodily hormones which regulate appetite are affected.
Of course, students who stay up late are very likely to be awake studying or working on other school-related subjects. Working on assignments at such late hours leaves the brain exhausted. Because of this, performance in school is greatly affected; listening skills, schoolwork, and more are all affected by lack of sleep.
When students don’t get the number of hours of sleep each night, they become very irritable and aggressive, and have a higher chance of losing their temper or getting into a fight. Most importantly, not getting an adequate amount of sleep may affect the future of each student. Students who are not consistent with sleeping patterns are at a higher risk of getting low grades which will affect them when applying to college.
The required amount of sleep for teenagers is roughly around 9.25 hours long; it varies among students. So what I’m trying to say is that you should get your studies done ahead of time then play, so when it’s late, you don’t have to worry about getting the rest of your work completed.

Lady Godiva

Just a set of lyrics from one of my favorite songs from Queen: Don't stop me now.

Well, here it goes!

Tonight I'm gonna have myself a real good time,
I feel alive and the world turning inside out, yeah!
And floating around in ecstasy.
So, don't stop me now, don't stop me
'cause I'm having a good time, having a good time.

I'm a shooting star leaping through the sky
like a tiger defying the laws of gravity.
I'm a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva.
I'm gonna go, go, go
there's no stopping me.

I'm burning through the sky, yeah!
Two hundred degrees.
That's why they call me mister Fahrenheit.
I'm traveling at the speed of light.
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you.

Don't stop me now. I'm having such a good time.
I'm having a ball. Don't stop me now.
If you wanna have a good time, just give me a call.
Don't stop me now ('cause I'm havin' a good time)
Don't stop me now (yes, I'm havin' a good time)
I don't want to stop at all

I'm a rocket ship on my way to Mars,
on a collision course.
I am a satellite; I'm out of control.
I am a sex machine ready to reload;
like an atom bomb about to
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, explode!

I'm burning through the sky, yeah!
Two hundred degrees.
That's why they call me mister Fahrenheit.
I'm traveling at the speed of light.
I wanna make a supersonic woman of you.

Don't stop me, don't stop me,
don't stop me, hey, hey, hey!
Don't stop me, don't stop me, ooh, ooh, ooh, (I like it).
Don't stop me, don't stop me,
have a good time, good time.
Don't stop me, don't stop me, ah!

I'm burning through the sky, yeah!
Two hundred degrees.
That's why they call me mister Fahrenheit.
I'm travling at the speed of light.
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you.

Don't stop me now, I'm having such a good time.
I'm having a ball. Don't stop me now.
If you wanna have a good time, just give me a call.
Don't stop me now ('cause I'm havin' a good time)
Don't stop me now (yes I'm havin' a good time)
I don't want to stop at all.

Adequate?

My anxiety levels are shooting through the roof the past few weeks. It's been nothing but excruciating headaches and hatred towards everyone. It's like PMS but ten times worst. At least with PMS it'll go away after a couple days. This, unfortunately, won't.
Why me? First, I'm stuck at home with my cousins; it's nice to see them and all, but usually when I'm home, I'm alone. I like being alone, it helps me think things through so that my life could be less stressful and a bit more bearable.
When I'm not alone, and I'm constantly surrounded by people, I'll co crazy; I'll literally go crazy! I'll isolate myself in a corner of my house, and not say anything. My mind hasn't had any time to recuperate its thoughts and release some unwanted tensions. My mind is pretty much a ticking time bomb that'll go off any second.
I can't wait till my mom gets back from her business trip, because she's the only one who understands that I need my alone time. No one else seems to realize that I'm better off alone; I'd survive if I didn't have friends; I'd do fine if no one liked me; I'd be fine if I was the last person on Earth. Really. If you ignored my presence, I could care less. I like being alone. Usually, when people are alone for an extended period of time, they'll go crazy, as for me, I'd go crazy if I were being surrounded by people at a regular amount of time.

"Mah Heerow"

My hero is not technically one person, but four. If you don't know me well, you probably don't have a clue of what I'm talking about. Well, the four people are the Beatles! Yes, the Beatles! They pretty much saved me from musical slaughter. You see, before I was interested in the Beatles, I was interested in a mixed variety of musical genres. I never based myself on a solid type of music, so my choices were pretty much like a roller coaster.
During the 8th grade, my school had a Spring Musical; the theme was the Beatles. I never thought much of the Beatles when I first started hearing them. I've heard a number of their songs while I was younger, but no one in my family was a strong advocate for the Beatles, and that rubbed off on me. It took a while for me to get interested in them, and when I did, oh boy, did I.
It was like the second Beatlemania for me! It was Beatles, Beatles, BEATLES! Everywhere. Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison saved my soul (even though I don't believe in souls; hypothetically speaking, they saved my soul), and I thank them for that.

LONG LIVE THE BEATLES.

Perfectly

That feeling: the agonizing feeling of knowing that there is an energy force around that is unable to fade. That noise: the chattering noise of the fingernails of the nuisance just might push a being into insanity. The repetitive giggling of the spaces that should be empty are getting more conspicuous by the second—makes even the strongest of minds scatter pointlessly into the voids of the subconscious.

Oh, the nostalgia! The bittersweet nostalgia! The nights that held the mind in torture are over. Finally, a time for the mind to release its containments; it transitions from insanity and anxiety to peace and serenity—alone.

Kind of a depressing piece, but it explains in literate terms that my life right now, is filled with anxiety and warfare between the two haves of my mind. If you don't see past the big words, then you won't know how I'm feeling at the moment. And if you don't know what word the title derives from, you won't understand what I'm longing for.

It's not only a test for my mind, but yours.

Halloween!!

The lucky few who attended the SIS Halloween dance were lucky, indeed. There were a lot of things to do, and STUCO did a good job occupying the classrooms to make the dance more entertaining. The library was where all the dancing was held. There was a freeze dance competition; Jessica Soll, 12th, won that challenge.
Mr. Tessen’s room was the movie room where the students watched scary films. Mrs. Ayeras’ room was used for taking pictures, and was also used as a video game room where everyone was welcomed to entertain themselves by playing Super Mario on the Wii. The hallway was wonderfully decorated with multiple light colors and spider webs surrounding the walls and the lockers. Also in the hallway was the buffet of sweets and snacks. (It was quite delicious if you ask me!)
Towards the end of the dance, there was a costume competition held; the scariest, the cutest, and the overall winner. Josh Tured, 9th, won the scariest, Abel Pellegrino, 10th, and Amy Hudkins, 11th, won the cutest, and Zoe Jewell, 11th, won overall. By 10 ‘o clock, the students were out of the building with the free snacks they were asked to take home with them!
STUCO has decided to propose a couple more dances and movie nights before the 2011 Prance. Be sure to attend the upcoming events and help support STUCO and SIS! Happy Halloween!

Headline: "Scientist dies in Lab" Muhahahahaha!

Where would you like to die? What would you be doing and why?

So let’s start off with what I believe in life after death. Well, I know this may be offensive to many people when I say that I don’t believe in an afterlife, a Heaven, or a Hell. I believe that when a person is deceased, their remains stay on Earth, and their subconscious and conscious minds are lost. I’m an empiricist, so I think logically about things (even though I may seem like the most illogical person you’ve met; it’s only because I’m silly and I like to have fun.)
I’m pretty much a Darwinist; I believe in evolution over religion. (But that doesn’t mean that I’m correct or not). It’s hard for me to get into the subject of religion, because it may seem like I’m arrogant and inconsiderate towards theistic religions.
ANYWAY, before I go on a rampage about religion, I’m going to stop and talk about the actual subject. Let’s see… I don’t know exactly how I would like to die, but I can eliminate the ways I don’t want to go. I definitely do not want to die by drowning, suffocation, or being buried alive. (Horrible way to go!) I wouldn’t want to be brutally murdered, or fall from extreme heights.
If I were to die, I would like to die doing something I love. I’m very interested in the human anatomy, so maybe I’d discover something in the lab that causes supernatural effects on the human body, which then kills me, but gives me time to say goodbye to my loved-ones. It may not seem like a very peaceful way to die, not an ideal way to die either, but hey, I’m a weird person. I was born a weirdo, and I will die a weirdo.

John is Back!

If you could bring back one person from the dead, who would that be and what would you serve for dinner and why?

If I were to have one person brought back from the dead, I would choose John Lennon. Not only is Lennon an inspiration to millions of people, he is also a very easy-going man who cares for the well-being of others. Why else do you think he sings about peace an love?! If he came over to my house for dinner, I'd serve a  casual bowl of Corn Flakes; he loved those! The Beatles even inquired it into their song I am the Walrus. To spice it up a bit (literally), I'd serve some curry, since John and the Beatles were greatly influenced by India's culture.
Also, John really enjoyed IHOP's silver-dollar pancakes, and Burger King's Whoppers. Since Saipan doesn't have any of those two restaurants, I'd have to special order it from Guam or wherever! Since he was such a believer in animal rights, and less violence towards animals, I'd serve some vegetarian dishes to set a "chill" mood. To top off the night, following an interesting conversation (and occasional squealing), I'd serve some jelly as a desert! Yum, yum!

Page 110 of my 400-page Autobiography

Getting out of college was a marvelous thing. Yes, I'd miss my old roommates, and the parties (which I never really attended), but like going from high school to college, it was time to start my life on a new page. I never really had a promiscuous life in college. I mean, the whole college thing is supposed to be the best years of your life (not that I'm opposing or anything), but people usually aim sex as one of the best things about college; no parents telling you when to be home by, no more strict rules to follow, it is basically all up to you.
I grew up with my family being so open with each other that I, the most cut-off, closed myself from the rest of the world. Even now, I'm still uneasy when I talk about sex or men with my family members. I think that because I've seen myself a child towards my family, the woman in me never really came, and the kid in me never really left. So, I'm stuck with being the girl who was too shy to talk about boys or anything relating to the emotions for the opposite sex. But my friends are another story; I can talk to them about anything, from Gonorrhea to dildos. (Let's hope for my sake, that no one in my family reads this!)
I'm kind of a little girl lost in her imagination when it comes to true love and marriage. I mean, when I watch MTV or any other atrocious television "reality" shows, I see myself as totally pure and sane. Who in their right minds would go on a television show to look for love? (Rhetorical question) It's not a surprise that many of today's kids will grow up to be strippers and teenage moms (which, ironically, is also another reality show).

If you're bored, possibly..

It’s sad that we all live on this isolated island. Sometimes it seems like there’s nothing to do. Well, leave it to the people who’ve lived here their whole lives (including me) to inform you on what things are actually pretty fun. There are a lot of things to do on this island, actually. We’re just not willing to see it. I’ll point out a few options you can choose to keep your life on Saipan less mundane and boring.
School always seems to take up a lot of our personal time, but having fun doesn’t technically mean going out somewhere. Instead, why not run through the sprinklers on a hot Sunday afternoon? True, it’s quite adolescent, but there’s nothing wrong with bringing out the child in you to have a little fun!
If the family’s been in the house, working non-stop, a simple barbeque could possible bring out the fun with your family; talking, taking pictures, and eating. Sounds good to me!  If you’re the kind of student who has enough quality time with the family and want to hit it up with some friends, going to the street market on Thursdays can be pretty fun, too. Basically what you do at the street market is hang out with friends, eat, and possibly make new friends. It’s quite stimulating, if you get my drift.
If you and that special someone want to hang out, the both of you can always catch a movie, or go get dinner together. There are quite a few good restaurants on Saipan that can provide a good time. But if you’re single, it’s okay, just grab a handful of friends and go bowling! Yes, bowling on a Saturday night, sounds pretty fun to me. I’m pretty sure that both bowling alleys, J’s neat Micro Toyota, and one behind Shenanigans near the I Saipan store.
So, to make myself clear, here is the list of fun things you can do on Saipan that I’ve mentioned earlier:
Run through the sprinklers, have a barbeque, go to the street market, catch a movie, grab dinner, and go bowling.

I like music.

So I've been listening to English music now. Haha, hard to believe, I know. But mostly rock. I probably may never get used to rap music.. I'm just saying. ANYWAY, I've been listening more to like Fall Out Boy and The All-American Rejects. Some Relient K, Switchfoot, uhmmm, Blink 182? Probably more, though. I can't remember (if you know me, you know that).
I like music that expresses how I feel. I listen to happy music, and occasionally some really sad, slow music. Right now, I'm not the happiest person, nor am I really as happy as I usually am. Eh, things have changed a bit since the beginning of the school year. It's more personal than what I'd like to share, so I'm gonna keep it as that.
School is distracting me from my listening time... more like my listening time is distracting me from my schoolwork! Pandora is an awesome website. It's an online radio that lets you listen to the artists that arouse your interest, so you don't have to listen to these crappy songs that make you want to shoot yourself in the head.
Pandora is actually where I start to recall all the old bands that I used to really like. Bands like Fall Out Boy, Blink 182, Panic! At the Disco, etc. It brings back so many memories, actually. It's quite nice to hear the music that reminds me of my childhood (or younger days).
Sooo, I have nothing more to say- I'm gonna go now. Have fun listening to your music! Tell me about it if it's good! (:

That's small. You're small.

Scientists have come to the conclusion that protons, electrons, and neutrons are the smallest particles. But they’ve often wondered what holds those particles together and what causes them to have negative, positive, and even no charges. This curiosity led to the discovery of the two fundamental forces: quarks and leptons.
Quarks are divided into six flavors according to three generations of matter. The six flavors or the six kinds of quarks can be characterized by their particularly funny names: up, down, charm, strange, top, and bottom. Quarks have electric charges in units of 1/3s or 2/3s. Quarks do not exist freely, or on their own. They do not like to be separated from each other so all quarks much be bound to another by the exchanging of gluons (particle forces that keep the quarks together). They always travel in pairs or in threes. The same goes for the antiquarks. A hadron is a type of quark. They are particles that interact by strong forces which are baryons and mesons.
Leptons are another one of the two fundamental particles. There are six leptons as well as well as quarks. They are their own particles. Electrons and neutrons are classified as leptons.
Antimatter particles are the corresponding particles to matter. Although its mass is the same as matter, its sign or charge is different. Every particle in the universe has an “anti” particle that compliments them. “Anti” meaning the opposite charge.
Scientists have played around with trying to figure out how the universe was created. They’ve come up with the “Big Bang” theory which believes that the universe was created when particles of matter collided with its antiparticles with the opposite charge. With a huge explosion, the universe was created; stars planets, solar systems, and the universe in general. The Large Hadron Collider is created to try and discover more about that theory. It lies 574 feet below the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. It is designed to collide proton particle beams.
The Large Hadron Collier was created by European scientists in the hopes of testing high-energy physics. The project costs approximately 9 billion United States dollars. The tubes that exchange particles are colder than the space between the stars, which is extremely cold!
Scientists have yet to discover exactly how the universe is created, or if their hypotheses are correct or not. But there are still much, much more information they have to obtain in order to have a solid idea of how the universe was created, and how we all exist.

One of My Favorite Shows. Part II

The Mythbusters did prove plausible of this experiment in a small scale, but now they use a bigger container to make “doubly sure.” Using a 10 liter glass container, about the size of a small fish tank, the Mythbusters place plastic and about 20 antacid pills inside. It works, but the Mytbusters, being as they are, take it to the next level and double the amount of tablets to from 20 to 40. The 40 tablets of antacid only produce 40 psi, which is not what they expect to happen. The amount of pressure is only doubling by 80%. They conclude that the size of the container does affect the pressure.
The Mythbusters decide to move on to the actual-scale experiment. They start out with 22000 antacid tablets. While setting up the experiment, Adam tells us that when the tablets react with water, one of its byproducts is carbon monoxide, so there’s a high risk of suffocation. Luckily, Buster, their test dummy, is there to take safety precautions. With the 22000 tablets combined with 350 gallons of water, they’d thought it would work, but a small leak was detected, and the experiment had to be redone. The source of the leak was coming from the sink and the toilet installed within the cell. They had to “eliminate the variables” to make sure another leak would not occur. They decide to go “the extra mile” and do something that wouldn’t be realistic in a jail environment. This time, they 72000 antacid tablets plus 28000 store-bought tablets adding up to the 100000 tablets they decide to use.
Jamie explains that the problem with this experiment is that we don’t know when or if it’s going to go off. For safety, they stay behind a thick glass shield and watch the experiment from meters away. In the end, the experiment is successful; it does pry open the door of the cell. Unfortunately, no human could survive the pressure being produced by the carbon monoxide expanding inside the plastic. Buster, the test dummy, was crushed. If the pressure could bend a steel door hinge, it could indeed press a human to death.
In the overall conclusion of the “Antacid Jailbreak” myth, Adam and Jamie declare it “BUSTED.” First, there would be a leak (from the sink or toilet), letting the pressure escape. Second, the amount of antacid tablets is most likely not realistic in a jailed environment. Third, the pressure needed to burst open the jail door would definitely crush the inmate to death.
Adam and Jamie didn’t seem to have remaining questions about this experiment, and neither did I. It seemed to have explained itself in the end. It was pretty funny to watch, too.

One of My Favorite Shows. Part I

The Mythbusters, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, are a couple of scientists who look for myths to prove legitimate or, in their words, “BUSTED.” This week, Jamie and Adam set out to prove if the “Antacid Jailbreak” myth is plausible or not.
The “Antacid Jailbreak” myth is one Jamie found. The Mythbusters explain that a prisoner had escaped his jail cell with the use of 1/4th of an inch plastic, a 10-year’s supply of antacid pills, and water. The inmate apparently lined the whole cell with the plastic (with him outside of it), and mixed the antacid pills with water to create enough carbon monoxide, or CO² gas, to expand the plastic, eventually breaking open the cell walls. But their big question is can a massive amount of carbon monoxide produced from a pile of bubbling tablets really budge bricks and medal?
Jamie and Adam start by testing out the kinds of pressures the antacid tablets produce when exposed in water. Of course, they start out in small scale, to take caution. But before they test out the pressure, they build the 10 ft. long, by 7 ft. wide, by 6½ ft. high standard jail cell to test out in their final experiment.
One of the Mythbusters’ first tests is a volumetric test to see how much gas is produced by the antacid tablets. They have a set of flasks connected by tubes to each other. The first beaker is filled with a fair amount of water; when Adam puts an antacid tablet in, the water and the tablet react, creating carbon monoxide. The gas expands through the tube leading it to the next flask measuring the amount of pressure, pushing the water to another set of tubes, into a beaker which measures how much gas is produced. Confusing, right? The whole point of this experiment is to simply test out how much volume is produced with multiple antacid tablets.
Adam and Jamie find out that one tablet produces 75 milliliters of gas. When they dropped two tablets in the water, the amount of gas more than doubles, past 160 milliliters, on to about 275 milliliters. They asked if they doubled that amount, the gas would more than double. Indeed, the amount of gas more than doubled by adding two more tablets to the equation.
The next step was the pressure test. Using the same method as Jamie and Adam used with the volumetric test, they find that one antacid tablet produces 1.9 to 2 psi, or pounds per square inch. They asked if pressure, like volume, increases what would happen. They conclude that just like the volume test, the pressure test more than doubles the amount by adding one more tablet, as well. The overall conclusion with their small-scale testing is that they may be able to crack a jail cell with a few antacid tablets.

So yah, Curie.. for Curieous?! Ahaha, JK. Don't read this. ;)

Marie Curie was born in Warsaw on November 7th, 1867. She was the daughter of a secondary school teacher. At the age of 15, her mother and sister died of different illnesses. She graduated high school with the highest honors. She seemed to have suffered depression, at the time because she was too tired to do anything. Her depression was supposedly caused by the tragic deaths of her sister and mother. Because of this, her father sent her to the countryside. She then moved to Paris, France.
While looking for a laboratory, she found her husband, Pierre Curie. Together, they studied general physics. She earned Licentiateships in Physics and Mathematical sciences and gained her Doctor of Schience degree in 1903.  She also was the professor on the School of Physics. After the tragic death of Pierre Curie in 1906, she took his place and became the new Professor of General Physics and the Faculty if Sciences. Se is the first woman who held this position. She attended the University of Paris where she was also appointed the Director of the Curie Laboratory in the Radium Institute.
Because of where she stood, she had to undertake much teaching in order to earn a livelihood, even with her husband. When Henri Becquerel discovered radioactivity in 1896, it inspired Curie and her husband with their analysis which led to the isolation of plutonium and radium.
Curie developed methods for the separation of uranium from radioactive residues. In order to do this, she had to do some careful study of its properties (its therapeutic properties in particular). After further study, she promoted the use of uranium to help relive suffering. In her lifetime Curie was presented many honorary science, medicine and law degrees and honorary memberships. When her husband was still alive, together the Curies were awarded half of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1903 for their. They earned half of the Nobel prize because Becquerel, who discovered uranium, was awarded the other half. Marie Curie received another Nobel Prize, in Chemistry this time in recognition of her work in radioactivity in 1911. United States President Harding presented Curie one gram of uranium in recognition of her service to science, on behalf of the women of America.
Marie Curie discovered the element radium. It changed the how scientists think about matter and energy. Also, because Curie studied intensively in the subject of uranium and uranium use, she led the way to a new era of medical knowledge and treatment of diseases.

FRECKLES!

I hate my freaking freckles! I don’t understand why me of all the people in my family has to be the one with the freckled-up face. I’m tired of it. They say that freckles come from a large amount of time exposed to the sun. Well, of course I’m going to be exposed to the sun for a large amount of time because I like on a freaking island!
Freckles are usually genetic. But it’s a skin mutation (yeah, that’s right, I’m a mutant). Surprising enough, I got my freckles from my mother’s side. Strange thing is that she’s Chamorro; Chamorros are not usually the type of people to have freckles, but for my family, it’s normal. A lot of my Chamorro side have freckles, but they’re not as massive as mine are. Mine are all over my face! Not just on my nose or maybe even somewhere on my cheeks. No, my freckles are all over my face… well, besides my forehead, but still. That is a lot of freckles.
I hope when I get out of high school, I’ll be able to stay out of the sun for a while, so I can lose some freckles.
I read that you can visibly lighten, and even remove freckles from your body by rubbing some lemon juice on the areas containing them. So while I was in Hawaii this summer, I bought an excessive amount of lemons, not telling anyone what it was for. I cut them in half and brought them in the bathroom with me every night. I rubbed them on. NOT the best idea. Considering it was me performing that, I was bound to get some in my eyes. I quit after a couple weeks, first, it wasn’t working, and second, it was too painful. Those things sting!
So I just decided to put some sun screen when I went out in the sun, to lessen the amount of sun damage to my skin. I have yet to master my freckles, maybe I can even accept them some day, but until then, I’ll be trying to get rid of them little buggers!
